home repair woes, inspired by stan...

yea so i havent seen any streams or rivers overflowing their banks. i saw one street that was under water due to a big dip where the water just kind of pooled there.

i got from my end of the city to the other. not much to see in the ways of flooding.

however,

i have felt the effects of the rain at home. the kitchen ceiling is leaking pretty good..
backstory: bought the house almost 4 years ago, from a guy that was a roofer. unlike many townhouses/rowhomes in philly i have a pitched roof over most of the house so pooling water on the roof isnt a problem, except over the kitchen which was an addition and has a flat roof. it was fine for the first year, then somewhere in yr 2 i noticed that with heavy rains i got some drips around the lightfixture in the center of the kitchen ceiling. so when i had a chance i went up and slapped down some roof muck/tar/reflective coating stuff over the existing roof. (which is like 3 long sheets of a shingle type material layered one over the other.) the dripping stops. didnt notice it again till the past winter when snow piled up on the roof and i got some more drips...

fast forward to this spring where it started dripping every heavy rain... me and my bud checked the roof several times and cant tell where the fuck that water is coming in at. im going to speculate now, since i have 2 spots dripping in the kitchen that the water is actually running down the back wall behind the siding and onto the kitchen roof. but its pure speculation.

so i guess my ass is going to actually have to do something this weekend instead of play video games for 4 days straight. great.

free beer if you come fix it for me. hahah
